It all started three years ago. I picked up the book “The Coolest Race on Earth” by John Hanc, which details the Antarctica Marathon. The marathon sounded awesome, so I gave the book to my running buddy and told her in no uncertain terms “we have to run this race”. Two weeks and three hundred dollars later we had secured our spots in the 2014 Antartica Marathon.

Fast forward three years, I get an email from the lovely tour organizers at Marathon Tours reminding me that my next deposit for the Antarctica marathon is due in a week. Two thoughts go through my head “HolyfuckingshitIhavetorunamarathonin11months-inAntarctica”, followed by “I should have started training a year ago”. Then “I did train last year, I ran a half marathon and got injured, then ski season came and went and then I got distracted by trampoline lessons”. Right. So. My long distance run training starts now.
