Back in week 3 I attended a Chi Running workshop to learn more about the technique. After the clinic, with the help of the Chi Running app, I spent a few weeks practicing the techniques on my own. Now, I’m in week 7 and I went back to do a half day Chi Running workshop and see how (if!) I’ve progressed and to remind myself what I need to work on next.
The great thing about the Chi Running workshop with Angela James is the video analysis component. Here are some before and after screen shots of my stride:

Areas that improved:
- There seemed to be a change in my lower body. I have a less pronounced heel strike than I did before.
- My trailing leg goes higher (heel lifts higher). This was likely because I ran faster in the second workshop.
Areas for improvement:
- The angle my arms are at could be closer to 90 degrees (something to work on). They look to be at about 100-110 degrees right now.
- I am still struggling getting my cadence up to 180 footfalls a minute. Lately on my runs it has been closer to 160.
I have lots of things I can work on in my upcoming training runs. Keep core engaged! Keep arms at 90 degrees! Mid-foot strike! Get my cadence up to 180 footfalls/minute! A work in progress…
