Training Log Week 11 – Girl Guide Cookies make you run faster

Monday: Rest day
Tuesday: 6.5km speed work*
Super Wednesday: 5.45km run to gym, strength train, Ultimate
Thursday: Rest day
Friday: Rest day (wow, that super Wednesday wore me out!)
Saturday: 26km LSD run
Sunday: Rest day**
* Speed work goal – run each km faster than the last km
**Sunday was a rest day because I had a VO2 max, lactate threshold fitness assessment appointment on Monday at the Peak Centre for Human Performance (more on that when I get my results next week)

Things that went well this week:

  • Average pace on my LSD run was 8:15/km, within my taget LSD range (yes! last weeks run from hell was the outlier!)

  • I ran to the gym, then did a strength training session. I feel I have hit another level of fitness

Lessons Learned for Next Time:

  • Girl Guide cookies, or the promise of Girl Guide Cookies make you run faster. At km23 of my LSD run I ran into a Girl Guide selling Girl Guide Cookies. I stopped and purchased a box, then proceed to run the final 3km with the Girl Guide Cookie box tucked under one arm. Here is the data:

  • Conclusion, Girl Guide Cookies = Faster Pace. Must stock up for future runs!
