In pushing myself to achieve this goal I looked forward to the insights I’d get as to who I am and what I’m made of. This is what I’ve learned:
- I’m a whiner. I run and I whinge endlessly. “This hurts”, “I’m tired”, “It’s hot”, “I’d rather be kayaking”. Then voice in my head pops in and says “but it doesn’t matter, I’m going to keep running”. Which leads to point 2…
- I’m stubborn. When I set out to run 23km or 32km, I go out and run it. I keep going and quitting isn’t an option for me. Some people would call this “determination”, however, I think of it more as “stubbornness”, which is not necessarily a positive quality.
